The Health Literacy Empowerment Project (HLEP) aims to establish a sustainable and scalable model for continued healthcare access for workers and their families in construction site camps, addressing low health literacy and barriers to preventive care.

The public health sector often overlooks this population, and the construction sector’s lack of incentives, training, and tools further compounds the issue. Project activities involve training Health Focal Points to provide community health information and connect public healthcare providers, workers communities, and construction companies with each other. Companies will play a crucial role in supporting the model’s adoption. Through HLEP, BDF strives to improve health outcomes and bridge preventive healthcare gaps for vulnerable populations.
